One person's account of using both. It is an opinion, it is not a benchmark, and it is here because the rest of this page is a table.
The measurement that settled it was petty and useful: a day of counting tab switches. Twenty-two round trips to a chat window, of which three were real questions and nineteen were 'make this shorter', 'what does this error mean', 'is this sentence rude'. The three were better answered in the chat and still are. The nineteen were the day's actual friction, and each one cost about fifteen seconds of context-switching plus whatever the interruption cost afterwards. Moving those nineteen to a hotkey did not make the answers better. It made them happen at all — about half of them were things I would otherwise have shrugged at.
Keep ChatGPT — this is not an either/or
If what you need is a thinking partner — research, planning, code you are designing rather than fixing, anything where the fifth message is the useful one — ChatGPT is the better place to be, and aiCat's chat window is not trying to replace it.
