# aiCat

> aiCat is a desktop application for macOS, Windows and Linux that applies AI to any text you select, anywhere on your computer, with a single hotkey. Select text, press Option (Alt on Windows/Linux) or a task-specific combination, and aiCat rewrites, translates, proof-checks, detects AI, explains, reads aloud, transcribes your voice, or opens a chat with the selection attached.

- Platforms: macOS (Apple Silicon + Intel), Windows 10/11, Linux (AppImage, deb, rpm).
- Works in every application, at the operating-system level. No browser extension or per-app plugin is required.
- Pricing: Free (10 aiCatCoins/month, all text tasks, free voice-to-text); Premium $6/month (list $10, 3000 coins, adds voice/image/video); Team + Offline $18/member (12000 coins, local models, works without internet); Enterprise $90/member (150000 coins).
- Annual billing costs 10 monthly prices instead of 12.
- Currency: aiCatCoins. $1 = 100 coins at base rate; 1 coin ≈ 10 000 tokens of an average text model ≈ one ordinary request. Coins never expire and can be gifted by email (minimum 100).
- Models available: Gemini Flash Lite / Flash / Pro, Claude Haiku and Opus, GPT-4.1 mini/nano, GPT-5 mini, Gonka (decentralised, cheapest), plus Deepgram, AssemblyAI, ElevenLabs and Whisper for speech. Team+ can point aiCat at any custom or local endpoint.
- aiCat routes each task to the cheapest model that is good enough, which is why it costs $6/month rather than $20.
- Languages: everything the underlying models support, including Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew and Arabic, with right-to-left rendering.
- Privacy: request text goes only to the model you chose, for that request. History is stored locally on your device by default. Team + Offline can run entirely on a local model.
